Assistive Technology In Action!
Clark Girl Scout Troop 41248 in Clark raised money through 2 years of cookie sales to purchase a Communication Playground Board to help support the needs of early language learners and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users. It was installed at the Caitlin Nelson Memorial Park at the Clark Recreation Center/Clark Preschool. The Communication Board was unveiled with representatives from NJCART, NJSHA, Clark Recreation, Clark Board of Education and Town Council, and the Mayor of Clark in attendance. The scouts also developed a video in which they demonstrate ways the Playground Board can be used. The QR code on the Board provides a link for people to view the video. We invite you to view and share the video below which they created!

The Family Center on Technology and Disability (FCTD) and PACER Center are pleased to announce the release of our assistive technology awareness series, AT in Action. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), this fully-captioned video series is designed to strengthen awareness of AT devices that help individuals with disabilities participate fully in school, at home, and in the community.

In the video below, you’ll meet Mason, a young boy with vision loss who, with the help of AT, is able to learn reading and writing in the same classroom as his sighted peers. We invite you to view and share this video with your colleagues and the families you serve.
